Decode and Conquer: here's what readers say

I am a big fan and personally like to thank you. I am from an Indian B-School Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and would like to thank you for your book "Decode and Conquer". It helped me prepare for campus placements as Product Manager and also is recommended as part of the preparation guides in my college. Also personally it helps me in day to day problems at work as Product Manager. Product Management as the field being new discipline, I feel we have very limited literature and your book definitely stands out. I owe a lot of my success to your book.

I just finished Decode and Conquer. What an incredible resource! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise.

Your books have greatly helped me as I’ve prepped for interviews. Even with COVID-19, I could still strive and land an great role post MBA!

I've gained a ton of value from your books and they've already gotten me into my first Product Manager job (switch from Civil Engineering to software development)

Today is my first day in Microsoft (Azure ML) as a PM intern, and you have a significant part in this. I learned a lot from you in the lecture you gave at Sloan and from your fantastic books, especially Decode & Conquer and the CIRCLES methodology. Thank you!

I’m starting Google as a PM! I just wanted to let you know how helpful Decode and Conquer was during my interview process.

Decode & Conquer and your Slack community has been a god-send for me.  I want to thank you for them first and foremost. Thanks again for the your gifts to PMs everywhere!

Thanks to Decode & Conquer, I made it to the hiring manager phase of my PM Google on-site.

Lewis, a colleague dropped me a copy of Decode and Conquer, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Although I appreciate the loan, I'd also like to contribute to you directly for the wisdom you imparted. Do you have a donation link?

Hey Lewis, thanks for the Decode and Conquer book. I have the Kindle version and is very helpful.

I'm a second-year MBA and the co-founder of the Product Management Club. 'Decode & Conquer' and your Slack channel have been great resources for my prep - THANK YOU.

Thanks for writing Decode and Conquer; it helped me land a new grad PM offer at Dropbox.

I’m a huge fan of yours! Your book helped me land my dream job at Microsoft. I always recommend it to anyone interested in being a PM.

I have read your book 'Decode & Conquer', and it has really helped me a lot in growing as a product manager.

Your book Decode and Conquer is awesome btw - helped me in all my interviews.

Hi Lewis you are doing a fantastic job. In terms of value you are offering much more than what we are paying for the book.

Hi Lewis, I’m a junior at Stanford studying SymSys and also a huge fan of your PM books!

Hi Lewis, I received the PM offer from Google yesterday. Your books were amazing and helped me crack the interview. Thank you very much!

Taking this opportunity to say thank you for all your books, they helped me a lot with my preparation and also helped to feel more confident!

THANK YOU! I’m a founder turned product leader and your content (I own Decode & Conquer, The Product Manager Interview, Interview Math, and The Marketing Interview) has been instrumental in teaching me how to a) think and articulate my thoughts in a more structured manner, b) improve my product management skills (not just for interviews but on the job as well), and c) not be totally paralyzed by intimidation.

I recently read 'Decode and Conquer' to prepare for my upcoming PM interviews. I found it very helpful and it has definitely improved the way I frame my answers. Thank you for writing such a great resource.

Hi Lewis! I'm a BS/MS CS student at Stanford, passionate about product management. I wanted to thank you for being such an incredible resource for the PM community. Your book Decode and Conquer has really helped me frame my thoughts in a structured way, and having the answers to challenging problems really helped me get started in my PM journey! I also really appreciated this slack you created. I cannot emphasize enough how helpful it has been.

Hi Lewis, I wanted to say thanks for putting together the books and community for PM prep. It’s been extremely helpful to me and many others.

Lewis - just wanted to drop a line and again share thanks. I know I mentioned your books helped me when I first got the PM job at Amazon. They again helped me refresh, alongside my gained experience, when I moved to Google. That, as you know, is through an interview process that’s notoriously one of the hardest in the industry. The shared wisdom in the pages of the book (even when I sometimes disagreed with the methods and answers) was extremely helpful.

I just wanted to thank you for your awesome book Decode and Conquer. I've been using it to prep for PM interviews and have found it very helpful and easy to follow.

I've enjoyed reading both Decode and Conquer as well as The Product Manager Interview. They helped me very much with the interview I had yesterday.

Hopefully, they will help me with the rest of the process there, or with other places I might try.

Anyway, I feel it makes me a better product manager and I will recommend the books to my colleagues.

This community and Lewis Lin is the best. Just heard back from Uber, it’s a yes! 🙏  I had interviewed there twice before over the years, but it wasn’t until I encountered Lewis, his materials, and this community that I was finally able to crack it.

You've helped many people in ways more than you know. I wish to do that someday in my own way.

I have been diligently studying your books and participating in the pminterview slack channel.

I am a Zimbabwean who has been living in China for the last 8 years. No direct PM experience but your 2-week PM guide has been incredibly useful. I have also been reading 'Decode and Conquer’ which has gotten me up to speed really fast. Brilliant book!

I purchased Decode and Conquer - Answers to Product Management Interview and after reading it 10-15 times, was able to crack the interview processes at Microsoft, Amazon and UBER. Just wanted to convey my thanks for writing a special book with very relevant examples that helped me sail through. Also special mention to your recommended strategy of preparing mock-ups and screen visuals before the interview to win interviewer's heart.

Just wanted to send a quick thank you your way. Just scored a dream job at Facebook and your two books - The Product Manager Interview and Decode and Conquer - were a big part of my success.

First off, I wanted to share that I'm a huge fan and supporter of your contributions to both the product community and also to aspiring PMs. I own your book and have read your blog which have made a huge impact on me.

My Facebook interview, an Instagram PM, was exactly as it was in the study guide:

  1. Weekly active users are down x percent. Walk me through your thought process on how you would solve it. This was fairly easy since i was fortunate enough to read few times.

  2. The second question was about FB reactions. We have 6 of them and want to launch 7th. What's your thought process on how to decide to launch? What if the Facebook comments PM comes and let you know it is cannibalizing comments? What will you do then?

While prepping for a Facebook PM interview, I have found Lewis’ The Product Manager Interview as well as Decode and Conquer to be excellent.

Thanks for what you do...it's so helpful!

I'm a first year MBA student at [West Coast university] and we met when you were on campus at the end of last year for a Product Management workshop. I read two of your books:

  • Decode and Conquer

They provide a lot of insights, and I love them.

Hey Lewis, I'm reading your new book Be the Greatest PM Ever and it is soooo good. I'm only halfway through but I love how punchy and easy to read it is, and synthesized such that every line is invaluable. This is a gem of a resource and will guide me for years to come. Thank you!

Lin's frameworks for career advancement are helpful for those working in any function, not just product management. He tailors his examples to be PM-relevant and largely applicable to those working in large or corporate environments. Lin intentionally designed the book to be a "playbook" and one that you will want to refer back to again and again.

Be the Greatest Product Manager Ever is amazing, awesome, and totally needed.

I just bought the Greatest Product Manager Ever. It’s just great. It’s worth paying 17.88$ for. I can apply this to my work situation. Thank you for your hard work Mr. Lewis Lin.
