- Exclusive events. LinkedIn invited female engineers to attend a networking event with LinkedIn’s top engineering executives. Dinner included.
- 1:1 events. For instance, Facebook would commonly reach out to talented engineers and mention that a top Facebook executive is in town and would love to grab coffee or dinner.
- Diversity emphasis. Expedia’s Early Careers Program is focused on recruiting under-represented minorities in tech roles. Microsoft has a similar program, which is a combination of 8-week coding boot camp and 8-week internship.
- Group hiring. Stripe recently announced hiring teams as well as individuals.
- Easter eggs. Google continues to use easter eggs to find talented employees. I encountered one earlier this year, but I can’t find the screenshot. Here’s one that first appeared in 2014.
